Welcome to Positive Training for Show Dogs.com, the first website
dedicated to using positive reinforcement methods to train show dogs.

Positive methods, including clicker training, can be used to effectively
train show dogs to gait, stack and accept a judge's examination.  They
can also be used to help dogs with behavioral issues associated with
showing, such as fear of the judge or show environment.

Clicker training is being used more and more by  trainers in competitive
dog sports such as agility, rally, obedience, freestyle and more.  It is
also used by many to train exotic animals and marine mammals.

One of the best things about clicker training and positive reinforcement
methods is that since it never involves force, intimidation or pain the
dog really enjoys the training process.  Since the training process is so
much fun and rewarding for the dog they learn to enjoy the show ring
and working with you as their partner.

These methods are also very effective when working with fearful dogs.
Using science based methods like desensitization and counter
conditioning is great for fearful show dogs because it actually changes
how they feel about the ring, the dog show environment and being
touched by the judges.  Instead of just forcing them to tolerate it,
instead we can train them to feel comfortable and actually enjoy it.

Browse around this site and you will find useful information including
articles, photos and videos to help you use positive methods to train
    show dogs.
