Vicki Ronchette is a Certified Pet Dog Trainer and the owner of
    Braveheart Dog Training in San Leandro, California.  Vicki has
    been training and competing with dogs since the late 1980s.  

    Formerly a traditional trainer, Vicki became committed to
    positive reinforcement methods several years ago and began to
    train all her own dogs without using harsh physical corrections or
    punishment.   

    As her knowledge of canine body language and behavior grew,
    Vicki became increasingly uncomfortable with what she would
    witness at dog shows.  Frightened dogs being forced to "deal
    with it" and show despite their fears.  Uncaring or unaware
    owners and handlers jerking and yanking dogs around and
    people giving up on showing because their dogs didn't enjoy it.  

    She began to write articles on using positive methods to train
    show dogs and using science based behavior modification
    techniques (such as desensitization and counterconditioning) to
    deal with fearful show dogs.  

    As Vicki's conformation client base begin to grow, people
    showed an interest in her methods and she decided to write a
    book on the subject.  The result is Positive Training for Show
    Dogs - Building a Relationship for Success, published in
    2007 by Dogwise Publishing.

    Vicki offers conformation show ring training and coaching and
    also offers seminars to breed clubs and trainers.
